This view is a high-level summary of the project. Please view the complete story to see more details.

Role: Responsible for the entire user-centered process from research to executing a solution based on research findings and user testing.

Team: 1 UX Designer, 3 Engineers

Problem: We have 42 days to find a way for DSG Distribution Centers to efficiently and effectively schedule the expected increase of seasonal employees so the company doesn't have to rely on temp agencies and temp employees .

Solution: Delivered a web based scheduling application that supported managers and seasonal employees.

  • The app allows managers to use desktops or laptops to schedule and publish open shifts, view employees working, edit shifts, and update employee statuses.

  • The app also allows seasonal employees to use their mobile device or desktop to view and accept open shifts, view previous shifts worked, and see future schedules in real-time.

User: Managers and employees at a DSG Distribution Center.

Disclaimer: Due to the type of work domain, I'm limited in the amount of work I can display publicly.

Research: Field Studies, Interviews, Usability Tests

Some Challenges Faced: Short timeline and geographic distance from users.

Some Solutions Created: Created a web based app and communication plan.

Design: Informed by research, testing, and feedback, the design solution led me to create a web based application that could be used on both mobile and desktop. The design solution was responsive and incorporated elements, such as, calendars and data entry fields.

Results: We delivered the solution within the short timeline with both desktop and mobile applications working successfully.
